Between Father and Son

Here's a little conversation between Jared and E the other night.
E- Dad, why are you eating cereal?
Jared - Oh, just for the heck of it.
E- Well, I'm a heck of it!

The Hair Cut

I have been dreading cutting Baby N's hair, because he has such beautiful curly hair, and because I know that when I cut it he will no longer look like a baby anymore. Well last week, when Jared came to me and told me that someone thought Baby N was a girl, I knew it was time.
Here are a few before pics.
Look at those curls!!!
Here's during.
Here's the final cut.
He looks so different now, I'm still trying to get used to it.

The Wedding Cake

Jared's sister, Becca, recently got married, and I was fortunate enough to be able to make her wedding cake. I was so excited for the opportunity, as it is something I love to do, and don't get the chance to do very often.
I made it at Camille's (another sister of Jared's) house, because she had the best kitchen with lots of room for me to work. (Thanks Camille!) A day before the wedding I got a call from Camille, informing me that her two year old had just put 3 big finger gashes into the side of the cake, through the fondant, two on the middle layer, and one on the bottom. Fortunately that was easily fixed with frosting, and no one could tell. Looking back, I'm glad she did it, because every cake needs it's story.

I used a new fondant recipe that I got from my friend, Sarah. I hate the taste of regular fondant, but this stuf is great. It is marshmallow fondant, and it is yummy! The bottom cake was a chocolate cake with a layer of chocolate frosting in the middle. The chocolate frosting had crushed up grasshopper cookies in it. It was sooooo good. The middle cake was a white cake with a layer of raspberry glaze with fresh raspberries in it, also soooo good. The top layer was a red velet cake with a cream cheese frosting layer in the middle. I think it will be soooo good, but Becca is freezing that layer to be eaten on her 1st anniversary.
I had such a great time making this cake, and I can't wait for the opportunity to do it again!

Seconds Anyone?

As I finished my ice cream cone tonight, E came up to me and said "Mommy, I think you are growing. You don't want to grow too big, though, or you might break the house." I think I'll pass on the second ice cream cone.

Half Way There!!!

I can't believe how fast time flies. In May, Jared finished his first year of the MBA. Only one more to go!!! I can't believe it is half way over. Then yesterday, Jared finished his 6th week of a 12 week internship with General Motors. Once again, I can't believe it is half way over.
Yes, since I last posted, we moved to the Detroit area. Jared is doing an internship in finance with GM, and is loving it. We love the area, and we have made some fabulous friends that I am not looking forward to leaving in 6 weeks. I hope that this internship turns into a full time offer so that we can come back next May. I guess we'll see what the Lord has planned for us here soon.
So much has happened that I haven't posted about that I need to, like Baby N's 1st birthday. I'll do that soon, I promise, with pictures.

Parent's Blog

To everyone who knows my parents, (Paul and Susan Sherwood)
Check out their new blog. They are getting ready to go on a mission, and wanted to start a blog so that everyone can stay updated on their mission. Their blog is Top of the Forest (get it? Sherwood Forest, I think it's clever).
Enjoy!!!

First Garden Attempt

So here is the garden I just planted. Not bad, for my first attempt. A little sparce. It needs about 20 more tulips and hyaciths, and some daffodils, but funds are low. Maybe next spring.
I am excited for the summer, cause that is when the rest of what I planted will bloom. Hopefully that will look a little more full. There are 40 bulbs, 3 iris plants, and 4 peony plants, as well as the 7 plants that were already there, that grow pretty purple flowers. You can see them sprouting behind the pansies. I have no idea what they are. We'll see how it turns out.
