Crazy!

Yesterday Jared didn't have to go to school, so we played all day. We took the kids to Chuckie Cheese, and had a great time. Then in the evening we decided to go to a drive-in movie theater to see Ice Age 3. Great movie. Here's the crazy part. We drove an hour and a half northeast of where we live to the drive-in, and got there an hour earlier than we expected. How, you may ask? We live in the Eastern time zone, and yet if you drive an hour and a half northeast, you end up in the Central time zone. Does that seem backwards to anyone else? Whoever planned the time zone boundaries for Indiana was on something that day. At least it wasn't the other way around, which would have made us an hour late.
Anyway, the kids loved watching the movie out the back of the van. We collapsed the back seats and put up an air mattress in the back. We brought popcorn and drinks, blankets and pillows, and watched the movie through the open back door. It was a blast.

Evolving

So E's latest phrase has evolved. It makes me laugh even more. Yesterday he saw the leaves falling off the tree in our front yard and he said, "Mommy the leaves are falling. The leaves are kibbing me!" Then we were playing candyland and he drew a yellow card. "Mommy I got a yellow. The yellow is kibbing me!" He says it no longer with a tone of frustration, but one of humor. It is soooo funny.

Cracks Me Up

E's latest phrase just cracks me up every time he says it. He picked it up from his dad who says it while playing a game and doesn't do as well as he wants. E also says it when something doesn't go the way he wants it to. Ready, here it is. "You have got to be kibbing me!" (and no, I didn't spell kibbing wrong.)

Big Ugly Bugs

So I just love living here in Indiana. Love the home, the people, the area. But if there was one thing I could change it would be the bugs. I do not love the bugs. Here are some of the bugs I have encounterd.

First is the cricket. I really don't mind the crickets, except that these guys seem to have taken over the garage. Every time I go into the garage and turn on the light I see them skatter into their hiding places. For some reason they seem bigger here, too, about 1 1/2 inches.

This I believe is called a crane fly. Big and ugly. When it flies, it looks like a giant 3 inch mosquito.
Here is the House Centipede. I usually see these guys in the bathroom or the kitchen sink. Yes, the sink. These not so little suckers can really move. Big and Ugly. Not my favorite shower companion.

Meet the wolf spider. Found this guy crawling across the kitchen floor. Again, Big and Ugly.

All of these critters are hamless, just freaky (except the cricket).

I almost forgot to mention the yellow jackets that we had burrowed in the back lawn (sorry, no pic). They are not harmless, but they are gone now thanks to a wonderful thing called Sevin Dust.

Other than that, I am really enjoying Indiana.

Neighbor and a Birthday

Here is our neighbor mowing his lawn. That big bush is on the property line. It is also where one of the underground behives is located.
Jared and E playing a game of baseball.

I thought this picture was so cute. She did not want me to take her picture.

H's birthday cake. Next time I think I would make the base frosting yellow instead of white.

Opening presents.

Great Grandma Kidman and Grandma and Grandpa Sherwood participating in the birthday festivities via skype.
H with her birthday loot. Some clothes and movies, a stroller and the very coveted princess phone.

Busy talking on cell phone. Please do not disturb.

H had a great birthday. It was fun having Grandma and Grandpa Sherwood and Great Grandma Kidman participate over the computer. We are so glad that we have that available to us so that the kids don't forget them. We are just waiting now for Grandma and Grandpa Jenson to get set up on skype so that the kids can chat with them, too.

We miss everyone, and if anyone is set up on skype we would love to chat with you too.

Some More Pictures

Here are some more pictures of the happenings here.
Jared putting the kids to bed.

H claimed Baby N's bouncer.
So Baby N got H's purple bean bag.
E in his bean bag.

Watching a movie together.

H loves Baby N.

Jared showing E and H were the beehives are and telling them to keep away.
Yup, we have two beehives, in the ground. Jared found them while mowing the lawn. One stung his leg, and as he swatted it away, it also stung his hand. Who knew that bees could burrow into the ground and make hives there. Thankfully our bishop is an entomologist professor at Purdue, so we are going to talk to him on Sunday to see what we should do about them.
E in the back yard. Isn't it fantastic!
We are trying to grow the grass that is in our backyard, hence the hose. There was a new septic system put in, so there wasn't any grass back there when we moved in. Just beyond our yard, where the good grass is, is our back neighbors yard, and he doesn't mind the kids playing there. It is perfect for a game of ultimate frisbee, football, baseball, or soccer, or just to run around. We love it!

H playing in the backyard.
E and H just love all the open space!

H has a keen sense of fashion.

Sharing Baby N's pacifier. After all, he doesn't need 2.

Getting ready for bed.

Another one of H's fashions.
I just love playing with pictures. I thought this was a fun one.
