Yesterday Jared didn't have to go to school, so we played all day. We took the kids to Chuckie Cheese, and had a great time. Then in the evening we decided to go to a drive-in movie theater to see Ice Age 3. Great movie. Here's the crazy part. We drove an hour and a half northeast of where we live to the drive-in, and got there an hour earlier than we expected. How, you may ask? We live in the Eastern time zone, and yet if you drive an hour and a half northeast, you end up in the Central time zone. Does that seem backwards to anyone else? Whoever planned the time zone boundaries for Indiana was on something that day. At least it wasn't the other way around, which would have made us an hour late.
Anyway, the kids loved watching the movie out the back of the van. We collapsed the back seats and put up an air mattress in the back. We brought popcorn and drinks, blankets and pillows, and watched the movie through the open back door. It was a blast.

how FUN is that?! So cool!
That sounds so fun! What a great day!
What a great idea! I've been thinking about this time zone that separates us, and discovered that if you boundary-hoped all day long, you could have a 48 hour day...sort of...I wonder if that would work. Not really, but you COULD only live through the ODD/only the EVEN hours (12 am here, then hop over and relive 12 am there...then hop again and now it's 2 am, then switch over at 2:59, and relive 2 am again...oh the possibilities, and what nursing in the midst of the night will bring you to think about!)
Hi Maryle! This is Amanda (Woodall) Davis. I found your blog through Karen's. How are you? Your family is adorable! I have a blog too (but it is private). Email me and we can catch up: amandamd(at)gmail(dot)com.
That is so crazy about the time zone! What a fun way to spend the day.
